North Wiltshire Crematorium Supports Local Charities
Three North Wiltshire charities – Springboard day nursery, the Jubilee Gardens Project and Coppershell Farm Sanctuary - have received a share of £12,000 from North Wiltshire Crematorium as part of its metal recycling scheme.
Dana Dumville, crematorium assistant at North Wiltshire Crematorium, said: “We know how important the work of these charities is for the local community and decided to give each of them £4,000 because they cover a breadth of causes – children, adults and animals – which are all close to our hearts.”
Chippenham-based Springboard, which has been existence since 1976, supports pre-school children with special needs and their families in North Wiltshire.
Respected providers of education and training for adults with learning disabilities, the Jubilee Gardens Project has been operating out of Chippenham since 1981. All students at this horticultural charity are encouraged to develop an awareness of their own abilities, become more self-confident, and develop relationships with others.
Bruce and Jackie Porter of the Jubilee Gardens Project have said that the £4,000 donation will make a huge difference and is a real boost to the charity because the pandemic has made it impossible to hold their usual fundraising events.
Coppershell Farm Sanctuary in Corsham provides care and attention for all types of abandoned, neglected or unwanted animals and helps them find a loving, permanent home. Since launching in 2019 they have rescued over 400 animals, with 130 currently in residence. Some of the animals help with bereavement therapy.
North Wiltshire Crematorium, at Royal Wootton Bassett, is run by Westerleigh Group, which operates the recycling scheme in all of its 34 crematoria throughout the UK.
With the consent of families, metals recovered during cremation are recycled and the money raised at each location used to support local good causes.
